“The details of his death have never been made public before, but the article appears to have been penned by a man who was investigating the case.
CBC News has asked for comment from the Vancouver Police Department.
Black says he was contacted by someone who had seen an article in the Vancouver Herald about the case, and that the information came from that source.”CBC News adds that the article does not indicate what the source of the information was, nor does it say whether the information has been corroborated.
A spokesperson for the Vancouver police said the article is a news report, and the information about Black was “in the public domain at the time it was written.”CBC notes that a spokesperson for Vancouver’s coroner, Dr. Chris Regan, said it was “premature” to comment.
A Vancouver man who lives in the neighbourhood where Black was murdered told CBC News that he believes there are multiple possible suspects.
“We just don’t know,” said Peter Korn, who has lived in the area since 2000.
Korn says there are reports of multiple murders of people from Black’s neighbourhood, but he doesn’t know who the killers are.
“It’s a really strange neighborhood, there’s nothing in that neighbourhood,” he said.
“Theres a lot of bad guys in there.”
Korn also said there are also reports that some people in the neighborhood were involved in a crime spree last year, but that the crimes never escalated.
“There was no murder this year, there were a lot more murders last year,” he told CBC.
